A letter from the honourable Cyril O Taylor, Liasion of the Pan-Tribal Confederacy to North America; to Sovereign Chief Damon G Corrie
Saturday, June 3rd, 2000
His Excellency
Damon Gerard Corrie
Sovereign Chief
Pan-Tribal Confederacy
Your Excellency,
You had mentioned to me the vocal minority of Pro-Assimilationist
mixed race urban based Amerindians in Guyana That are bitterly
opposed to you personally; as well as the Pan-Tribal Confederacy
in general. If I may, I would like to offer you these few words
of advice.
Age is not a factor in accomplishments. In every society there
are a few individuals that stand out because they lead the way.
The only thing that is eternal is ideas, you had the idea of
resurrecting the Confederacy and you did it. Older individuals
look at strong youth with jealousy, envy and self-pity for not
accomplishing or thinking about the idea themselves. Everyone
loves to sit back in a comfortable position and make statements
about your actions in 20/20 hindsight. In every movement there
are some individuals who will run in front of the pack not
within the security of the pack. I know there are times when you
are leading that you look to the left and right - and you
realize that you are alone. New ideas are generally reserved for
the young because they have not had as many life experiences,
therefore, they devise new exciting and innovative ideas.
Age was a factor when individuals did not have access to
information. Today's tribal elders have written their ideas in
books so you have access to all of them, and our elders are
still needed for many unanswered questions. But remember,
Alexander the Great conquered the known world by age 28.
Servant of the people,
Elder Cyril Taylor
Liasion of the Pan-Tribal Confederacy
