Sorrow of Innocence
A little dove who entered this world,
what joy to our hearts - a baby girl!
Her mother's arms held her only three days,
why did God have to take her away ....
Her daddy's eyes never saw her sweet smile,
for he was far away - during the birth of his child,
neither was he there when she fell gravely ill ...
her mother alone - faced this terrible trial.
Arriving mere hours after she had been interred,
he resolved to hold, albeit just once; his precious little girl,
exhuming her coffin with the solemn brothers' of his wife,
he hoped in vain that she might still be alive.
With her lifeless body in his trembling embrace,
surely there was no pain greater - that he ever did face.
Tearfully accepting that his daughter's spirit was gone,
he thought of her mother ...and tried to be strong,
but no matter how bravely her young parents tried,
their grief was too great and inconsolably they cried.
Perhaps our pain may never subdue,
but remember Little Dove ...
Your parents love you.
